NAME (meaning: not about me) Is a culturE lab resourcing creatives with the means to create nEW work, share their craft, and give back in the process.
We curate programs by and for our community guided by 3 Cs:
CREATE:
centering THE creative process.
As a cultural lab, NA-ME’s programs prioritize the development of new works and innovative responses to the immediate needs of the community. We do this by providing co-working studios and event space, working hand-in-hand with our local Block Association, and through an Artist Incubator program.
CULTIVATE:
resourcing accessible alternative education.
As a resource library, NA-ME offers a platform for community-led alternative educational programs serving all age groups and interests. We do this through artist and member-led workshops geared towards creative empowerment.
CELEBRATE:
nourishing a culture of joy.
As a community center, NA-ME is dedicated to uplifting our community and celebrating each other. We do this through art exhibitions, artist talks, networking events, and kick-ass parties that channel the unique gifts of individuals in service of the collective.
From the founders of Saratoga Avenue’s September cafe, NAME is both a response and a gift to the creative community who take to the cafe to build their businesses, make their art, and grow their relationships. Not About Me is a platform for collective experiments in art, education, and community. A space for resourcing dreams and celebrating each other.
